Fosterfields Living Historical Farm
The farm was purchased in 1852 by the grandson of Paul Revere. Joseph Warren Revere built The Willows, a 19th-century Gothic Revival house. Visitors can watch an introductory film, view exhibits, explore the farm on a self-guiding tour, see draft horses, Jersey cows, sheep, pigs, chickens and a 1920s farmhouse, and observe demonstrations of late 19th- and early 20th-century farming practices. Jockey Hollow
The hollow contains most of the sites occupied by the Continental Army 1779-80. That “Hard Winter” proved to be one of the harshest of the 18th century. The army stripped the surrounding woods to build more than 1,000 huts, each housing 12 men. Five soldier huts have been re-created. The 1,200-acre area is a wildlife sanctuary with several hiking trails. A visitor center offers displays and a short film. Call (973) 543-4030 for more information.

Morris Museum
Housed in the Frelinghuysen mansion at Twin Oaks, the collection includes some 48,000 objects representing the fine arts, decorative arts, costumes and textiles, natural science, mineralogy, paleontology and anthropology. A highlight is the 19th- and 20th-century doll and toy collection, which includes children's furniture. Changing exhibits also are featured. Call (973) 971-3700 for more information.

Washington's Historical Museum and Library
The museum displays material relating to the 1779-80 encampment. The library, open to the public only by appointment, houses some 40,000 manuscripts and more than 20,000 printed works dealing with both the Colonial and Revolutionary eras. Wild West City
Visitors to this re-creation of the Old West can experience a stagecoach ride, see Pony Express riders race into town, witness gunslingers in action and view a re-enactment of the gunfight at the O.K. Corral. Train and pony rides, a petting zoo, live entertainment and gold panning also are available. Costumed interpreters give living history demonstrations. Picnicking is permitted.
